Twelfth Muslim News Awards for Excellence was held in London Grosvenor House on 31 March 2014. According to information, Mr. Cameron promised to keep Halal meat “safe in Britain” and ensured whilst he is in power he will never impose restrictions on religious slaughter.
These encouraging comments echo the promises the Prime Minister made in Israel last month in regard to protecting kosher meat.
The Prime Minister’s comments come at an opportune time following Denmark’s ban on unstunned meat and president-elect of the British Veterinary Association, John Blackwell’s comments that religious slaughter of poultry, sheep and cattle caused unnecessary suffering to animals.
