LET’S PROTECT OUR MOST VALUABLE RIGHT

Consumer rights are maybe the most important and most sacred of the rights of humans but since consumers are not aware of their own rights most of the time, consumers, especially Muslims, suffer a lot.

The emotional, lofty attitudes that we see in the slide about the Gallipoli Victory is unfortunately not visible in our people today. The main reason for becoming like that is that our way of life does not lie within the borders of Halal any more. As we don’t live the Halal way of life in our bodies, our spirits, in our own existence, we don’t deserve to feel those good feelings .

I am not sure whether we can do the same and feel the same emotions in case we happen to have another Gallipoli Campaign like we see in the slide.

Because Halal is the way of life for a Muslim and it is the goal for his life.  Allah orders us to consume “Halal and Tayyib” foods in Qur’an, the last Holy Book of Allah.  There are more that 2 billion Muslims in the World and as Muslims we are bound by the rules of Allah.

Regrettably, those 2 billion Muslims do not have the same effects of the Jews that have a total population of 16 Million. While these 2 Billion Muslims suffer from  a variety of misery, desolation and oppression, those 16 Million Jews rule the World and as a result of their misrule they break the peace as much as they want.

I believe the same issues lie under the base of the problems we experience today in Turkey. We have to give Halal a priority and start solving the problems. Solution must start from Halal food, Halal consumption and Halal bite.

If we don’t settle the Halal issue, all our efforts will be wasted.

Allah says and Our Beloved Prophet (SAW) informs in the Hadiths that :

‘’If you are fed by Haram, then your destination is Hell and your prayers in this World will not be accepted.”

We have to think about these orders and get  ready to account for what we do. As Muslim consumers, we must protect our own Muslim consumer rights. Nobody will do this for us.

Muslims in UK have done researches in many fiels including food, chemistry and medicine and they have compiled lots of information on what products may be permitted for Muslims and what other products have to be scrutinised before consuming. There are many books published on these matters.

In Turkey, let alone medicine, we still couldn’t solve the problem of food. We don’t have enough information about the food we consume. There are thousands of food products in the market shelves and we still don’t know exactly what ingredients the producers might use.  This is because production technology, process information, raw materials and ingredients  all come from outside of Turkey. There is not any product which we can consider as pure local product. For example, a biscuit company may have a Turkish name but regrettably products of that company are not produced 100% locally. There may be ingredients or raw materials from at least 3 or 4 foreign countries in the production of a simple biscuit. Therefore, we have to know the contents of materials coming from outside of Turkey.

I pray Allah that he give us the right direction and keep us within the Halal and Tayyib system.
