Dr.Hüseyin Kami BÜYÜKÖZER
(My Brothers and Sisters Who Continue Their Education and Business Life)
According to the narrations that have come down to us; Our Prophet (pbuh) would divide his twenty-four hours into four. He would spend some of it with worship, some with his family, some explaining his life system to people and some for his personal needs. We can also apply this program of our best example, our Prophet (pbuh). You too can divide your day into four:
1) Devote some of it to the daily acts of worship that you need to do, such as reading books, especially the Quran, performing prayers and supplications.
2) Devote some of it to your personal needs such as sleeping, eating, playing games and traveling.
3) Devote some of it to activities that you need to do with people such as your mother, father, relatives and siblings with whom you cooperate.
4) Devote most of your day to your studies and work. Also, make an effort to improve yourself in the best way possible, such as learning art and a profession.
A young person who wants to make the best use of his twenty-four hours can do this by doing justice to the moment he is in. For example, if it is snowing, he should go outside and enjoy the snow and play games. If the call to prayer is made, he should say that Allah is calling and accept that sublime invitation. He should focus his mind and himself only on the subject in class and work and follow his lessons and work.
If the opposite is done, the time spent is wasted and becomes a cause for regret in the future. For example, if you prolong the game during prayer time and do not pray, if you are busy with other things instead of listening to the teacher during class, or if you sit idly at home and at work, then your time is not being used well. All these show that we cannot fully comprehend what the time we are in requires.
Planning the day…
Another wisdom of the five prayers being made obligatory at different times is that it teaches us to plan our day, do it on time and continue in a disciplined manner. Therefore, we should have daily routines such as performing the five prayers on time and sleeping at the same time in the evenings.
Getting a good night’s sleep in order to have a productive day. For this, not delaying going to bed after 22:00 at night. Starting the day with the morning prayer and reading a little bit of the Quran and praying after the prayer. Studying for the most difficult lessons in the early hours of the day.
Instead of reading many books on a subject, read the best work written in that field over and over again. Focused reading and listening rather than reading a lot.
Organize your desk before starting class and work. Remove phones and books from other courses that will distract your attention. Have only the book and notebook of the course you will be studying and the documents you need for your work. Doing this will make it easier for you to focus.
Allocate the time periods after the afternoon, when the tiredness of the day is more evident, to reading books rather than memorizing, reviewing the notes taken and social activities.
When learning a new knowledge, start with a few hours at first and then increase them.
Memorize before going to sleep and in the hours after waking up in the morning.
Review tomorrow’s program every evening.
Do not wait for motivation to study or do work because desire comes after action. After taking action, desire forms in the heart over time.
Always have a book with you so that when you are waiting somewhere, you can take advantage of the opportunity.
Always look for a suitable place and environment to study.
Do some daily exercise and maintain your health, consume halal and pure food and drinks.
We will be held accountable! Our Prophet says: “Man’s feet will not depart from his Lord’s presence on the Day of Judgment until he is asked about five things: Where he spent his life, where he wasted his youth, where he earned his wealth and where he spent it, and how he acted upon the knowledge he learned.” (Tirmidhi, Sıfâtü’l-Kıyâme, 1).
In addition to being held accountable for one’s life, the fact that one will also be held accountable for one’s youth should ensure that the young person is aware of their responsibility.
Empty-handed people open the door to sins. Being idle leads to gossip, backbiting and unnecessary arguments, and as a result, hostility and grudges between the person and their friends. Thus, they can lead each other into mistakes and wrongdoings. It is necessary to think about this warning of Hazrat Omar for the young. The roadmap to success! A young person who pays attention to these three points will definitely achieve success:
1) Knowing one’s own abilities and focusing on them.
2) Determining a goal for oneself by consulting with elders, teachers and experienced people.
3) Being hard-working to reach the determined goal. Laziness is the young person’s most important secret enemy. The verse “As soon as you finish one job, start another” should increase our determination, effort and endeavor.
If you pay attention to these three points, you will be both happy and successful. Have monthly and annual goals as well as a daily program. A young person without a goal will be wasting his time like a leaf blowing from side to side in the windy air. Train yourself by reading books on willpower training, learning to learn, effective learning methods and how to manage time in the best way. All of these are very important issues that should be repeated and reviewed every year.
“Have We elevated your renown for you? So, surely with hardship comes ease. Surely with ˹that˺ hardship comes ˹more˺ ease. So once you have fulfilled ˹your duty˺, strive ˹in devotion˺, turning to your Lord ˹alone˺ with hope. (Surah Ash-Sharh – Ayat 4-8)”
Every free time is a good opportunity presented to Satan to occupy your soul. For this reason, you should definitely have tasks that will not give you the opportunity to sit idle for even a minute, and that will make you worry about the troubles of the ummah.
“You should be so busy that your work and duties should be more than your time.” Remember! Every task you undertake on the path of the dominance of truth is a big step taken on the path of defeating the ego. Laziness and inertia are among the greatest negligences that plague man.”
As my teacher Necmeddin Erbakan, one of the leaders of the Ummah, said, “There is no difference between not working for the establishment of truth and working for the dominance of falsehood.”
Our slogan is You will keep the excitement fresh. You will hammer the nail in time. You will deliver the letter to its address.
