GIMDES Participated in NGOFest 2025 to Raise Awareness of Halal and Tayyib Consumption

University Youth Engaged in Halal and Tayyib Consumption

GIMDES participated in NGOFest 2025. On the first day of the festival, a sapling planting ceremony for Gaza was held with the participation of GIMDES, followed by a silent march.

GIMDES, the Dunya Halal Foundation, and the Halal Dunya Markets Union participated in the Non-Governmental Organizations Festival held at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University on October 22-23. Throughout the festival, GIMDES enthusiastically organized seminars, workshops, and gift drawings with the participation of our young students.

The festival program served as a valuable opportunity for university students attending as visitors to raise awareness about halal and Tayyib food. Throughout the festival, young people at the GIMDES booth were informed about our responsibility to live a halal and tayyib life and GIMDES’s activities. Books, magazines, pencil case sets from GIMDES publications, and products from GIMDES-certified sponsors were given away to visitors.

At NGO Fest 2025, the GIMDES booth was visited by nearly 4000 university students. The young people visiting the GIMDES booth at the festival were students from schools such as Sabahattin Zaim University, Biruni University, and Istanbul Technical University.

Halal and Tayyib Food Consumption and Boycott

GIMDES President Dr. Hüseyin Kami Büyüközer held a seminar at the festival on Muslims’ obligation to eat halal and tayyib food and the importance of boycotting Israeli products against the oppression in Palestine.

GIMDES chief inspectors Timuçin Günesen and Abdülhamit Aksel explained the halal and Tayyib critical control points in cosmetic products and demonstrated how to make hand cream and soap to workshop participants. At the end of the workshop, the prepared hand cream was distributed to participants.

GIMDES chief inspector Füsun Menteş provided information about medicinal and aromatic oils and teas, explaining the critical control points in the production of these products to visitors. She demonstrated the correct brewing methods for the teas in person. The teas were served to the guests.

GİMDES Technical Science Board Member and Chemist Timuçin Günesen discussed certification procedures. GIMDES Technical Science Board Member and Food Engineer Mehmet Bayar discussed halal and Tayyib critical control points in the meat sector. GIMDES R&D Coordinator Ali Rıza KURUM discussed the topic of halal in the medical sector.

As part of the festival, Darû’l Halal Madrasah Deputy Director Elman Necefzade provided information about the training content offered in the Food Science and Technology department. Muhammed Furkan Öner, GIMDES Administrative Affairs and HDM Manager, provided information about the operation of Halal Dunya Markets and the importance of the market chain in the halal market.
