In his recent speech, Dr. Hassan Haikal, the new president of the Indonesian BPJPH, repeatedly reiterated the importance of ending contradictions and building strength within unity by emphasizing the importance of Islamic unity, Halal unity, working together, and cooperation. He used phrases such as, “Why are we working separately? We are all Muslims; we must be united.”
16 years ago, GIMDES first raised this issue at the WHC Congress and international conferences. 16 years later, at the “21st WHC General Assembly,” at an international meeting, the fact that it was raised with a phrase evocative of the slogan “ONE VOICE, FULL UNITY” is a significant point for GIMDES.
We are delighted that GIMDES has reminded us of the main theme of the international conference held on April 25-26, 2009. Those who closely followed our conference will remember that the main theme of the conference was “ONE VOICE, FULL UNITY” and we called on all Muslims around the world to unite, to be one, and to unite under a single Halal Standard. We were delighted to receive an important reminder of this call today.
