Dr. Hüseyin Kâmi Büyüközer
Our President of GİMDES and World Halal Foundation, Dr. Hüseyin Kâmi Büyüközer, Has Passed Away
Dr. Hüseyin Kâmi Büyüközer, the pioneer of halal certification in Türkiye who dedicated his life to the cause of Islam and the struggle for halal food, has departed for the eternal realm.
Our Highly Esteemed Teacher Dr. Hüseyin Kâmi Büyüközer, the founder of our association and President of GİMDES and the World Halal Foundation, has passed away.
Having established GİMDES in 2005 and initiated halal certification efforts in Türkiye, our esteemed teacher devoted his life to the cause of ensuring that halal and tayyib food reaches the tables of Muslims. For him, halal was not merely a matter of certification; it represented a Muslim’s commitment to bringing their faith into every aspect of life and taking responsibility for what they consume. He became the leading figure who rooted, highlighted, and advocated the concept of “halal and tayyib” in these lands.
Carrying this cause not only in our country but on a global scale, our esteemed teacher brought together scholars, scientists, and industry representatives from across the world through dozens of international conferences organized under the roof of GİMDES. Furthermore, to spread the awareness of Halal and Tayyib food in society and implement various projects toward this goal, he established the World Halal Foundation. Under this foundation, he founded the Daru’l Halal Madrasah—where both technical and Islamic sciences are taught to revive the legacy of our ancestors—thereby elevating the halal cause to an international dimension.
With his untiring devotion, uncompromising adherence to principles, and the generation he nurtured, he leaves behind a great legacy. As the custodians of this trust, we will continue to walk the path he blazed with the very same sensitivity.
We extend our sincere condolences and wish Sabr-i Jamil (comely patience) to his grieving family, the GİMDES and World Halal Foundation community, his students, friends, and the entire Islamic world.
May Allah SWT bless his soul, grant him paradise, and exalt his station.
