MALAYSIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY VISITS GIMDES

Mrs. Zahide Merve KAPDAN/ External Affairs and Media Consultant

Mr. Haji Muhamad Amin Fahmi, President of the Malaysian International Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MIICCI), and two company representatives accompanied by him visited GIMDES.

During the meeting, the company representatives introduced their products: a carbonated beverage containing palm oil and Himalayan salt, tea bags containing milk powder (milk tea), cooking sauces, and ready-to-eat purees. They stated that all of their products are certified by JAKIM, the halal certification authority in Malaysia. They stated that they intend to sell their products at Halal Dunya Markets branches in Türkiye and that they can support contract manufacturing for companies certified by GIMDES who wish to produce in Malaysia.

It was explained to our guests that GIMDES does not approve all of the products because they contain substances such as MSG, which GIMDES does not allow due to the lack of tayyibness inspections by other certification bodies. Dr. Hüseyin Kami BÜYÜKÖZER, President of GIMDES, explained that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry has a significant responsibility in this regard, explaining that it needs to raise awareness among its companies on this issue, and that better understanding these issues will facilitate mutual trade.

Our President expressed his congratulations and appreciation for Mr. Haji Amin, who follows different movements within the Islamic world and, through his position, has been instrumental in significant achievements. He recommended that companies producing in Turkey and those producing in Malaysia open Halal Dunya Markets in Malaysia to foster cooperation. He stated that the cooperation had been very successful so far, but that a market model needed to be implemented. He requested that they invite them to the opening ceremony when the market opens.

Mr. Haji Amin expressed his pleasure in meeting with our President and expressed his willingness to work on this matter.

The meeting concluded with a mutual prayer and exchange of gifts.
