Rabia al-Adawiyya, one of the blessed women of our Islamic history, had wrapped a headscarf around her head one day when she had a headache. She took it off and threw it away as soon as she wrapped it. She said to herself, “Oh my shameless nafs. My Lord gave you health and well-being for years. While you have never wrapped a scarf to show your health from one day to the next, don’t you feel ashamed to tie this scarf around your head and announce it to the world when you have a headache?”
Arthur Ashe was the first black man to win the U.S. Open, Australian Open and Wimbledon. During a heart surgery in 1983, he got infected by the blood that he received and contracted AIDS.
From all over the world, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed: “Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease”?
To this, Arthur Ashe replied:
“The world over — 50 million children start playing tennis, 5 million learn to play tennis,
500,000 learn professional tennis, 50,000 come to the circuit, 5000 reach the grand slam,
50 reach Wimbledon, 4 to semi final, 2 to the finals,
when I was holding a cup I never asked GOD ‘Why me?’.
And today in pain I should not be asking GOD ‘Why me?’ ”
Happiness keeps you Sweet,
Trials keep you Strong,
Sorrow keeps you Human,
Failure keeps you humble and Success keeps you glowing, but only Faith & Attitude Keeps you going..”
Even in the troubles and calamities that come your way, never ask ALLAH (SWT) “Why me?”
Don’t complain. Face them with patience and gratitude for the blessings He has given you.
Whatever is going to happen, happens.
