Mr. Elman NECEFZADE/External Affairs Officer
On September 11, 2025, a 10-person official delegation from Indonesia visited GIMDES Headquarters in Istanbul. The delegation included Dr. Muammar Zayn Qadafy, Global Recognition Director at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama (UNU) Yogyakarta, along with university officials and a delegation led by Dr. Fertiana Santy, representative of the Halal Product Assurance Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BPJPH).
This visit was part of the Strategic Expert Exchange Program, which included representatives from Indonesian universities, the halal industry, and government institutions. The program was organized with the support of the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara and the Turkish Embassy in Jakarta.
During the meetings, the GIMDES President shared detailed information with the delegation about the institution’s establishment and work on halal certification and standardization. Following this, a signing ceremony for the Recognition Certificate was held between GIMDES and BPJPH. The GIMDES President personally signed the ceremony, successfully completing the official recognition process between the two institutions. This declaration declared that the GIMDES halal certificate is now unconditionally accepted in Indonesia for food and beverages, chemical products, biological products, and slaughter products. With this development, it was announced that Turkish exporters will be able to export directly to Indonesia with the GIMDES certificate.
As part of the program, the delegation also visited the Halal World Markets BaÅŸakÅŸehir branch and received comprehensive information about this project. University representatives were also introduced to the Dar al-Halal Madrasah Project, spearheaded by the World Halal Foundation(DHV), and it was emphasized that they would remain in contact for future academic collaborations.
This visit laid the groundwork for multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in the areas of halal certification, education, trade, and public awareness, while also ushering in a new and powerful era in the global halal and tayyib ecosystem.
We pray to Allah (swt) that this meaningful collaboration will yield long-term contributions to the halal and tayyib ecosystem in both Indonesia and Türkiye.
