The Küçükçekmece Branch — the newest addition to the Halal and Tayyib Markets Chain under GIMDES supervision — officially opened its doors on Friday, May 22, following the Friday prayer, with a ceremony held in a spiritually uplifting atmosphere accompanied by prayers.
A large number of distinguished figures from both domestic and international circles attended this special occasion, as the market opened with the mission of making halal and tayyib food more accessible.
Strong Attendance and International Visitors
The opening ceremony was attended by GIMDES President Dr. Hüseyin Kâmi Büyüközer, GIMDES chief inspectors, halal food volunteers, and a delegation that had traveled from Malaysia to visit GIMDES for official meetings.
Following the prayers, guests were introduced to the halal and tayyib certified products available in the market. The Malaysian delegation and GIMDES officials exchanged knowledge on the global halal market and on strengthening inter-institutional cooperation.
Sharia Scholar Ahmed Raees from Malaysia’s IIUM Also Attended
Among the international delegates present at the ceremony was Ahmed Raees, a Sharia scholar and researcher affiliated with the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Having previously served as a Sharia consultant and imam, Raees is well aware of the critical importance of maintaining public trust in halal products. He visited Istanbul in connection with his ongoing research on “Crisis Management in the Halal Sector.”
The Malaysian researcher examined firsthand GIMDES’s practical experience in preserving Halal-Tayyib integrity in the face of industry challenges, and exchanged field knowledge with GIMDES officials regarding the “Halal Assurance System” protocols applied to address market non-conformities. It was emphasized that this critical industry perspective is a vital component for global halal sector research frameworks.

GIMDES President Dr. Hüseyin Kâmi Büyüközer, who made key remarks at the ceremony, highlighted the critical significance of the “opening certificate” issued to Halal Dünya Markets. In his speech, he stated:
