ABOUT THE LOVE OF ALLAH…

The love of Allah, like the fear of Allah, is the highest love that we need to live, feel and reflect on our actions and lead us to good morals and eternal happiness. Those who love Allah love Allah’s creations for Allah’s sake, love everyone, reach true happiness, and feel no sadness in this world or in the hereafter.

Apart from this, Allah Almighty reveals important signs of His love for Allah as follows: “O believers! Whoever among you abandons their faith, Allah will replace them with others who love Him and are loved by Him. They will be humble with the believers but firm towards the disbelievers, struggling in the Way of Allah; fearing no blame from anyone. This is the favour of Allah. He grants it to whoever He wills. And Allah is All-Bountiful, All-Knowing.”1

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Allah (mighty and sublime be He) said: My servant draws not near to Me with anything more loved by Me than the religious duties I have enjoined upon him, and My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory works so that I shall love him. When I love him I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him, and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant him it.”2

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Whoever possesses the following three qualities will have the sweetness (delight) of faith:
1. The one to whom Allah and His Apostle becomes dearer than anything else.
2. Who loves a person, and he loves him only for Allah’s sake.
3. Who hates to revert to Atheism (disbelief) as he hates to be thrown into the fire.
“3

If it is not for Allah’s sake, loving the creatures turns into a calamity. Because the thing you love often doesn’t know you, doesn’t know you, doesn’t understand you. All of a sudden he disappears and leaves you in sadness. Like your youth, property and money. He leaves you even if you don’t want to. He leaves his pain to you. However, the love of Allah takes a person’s hand both in this world and in the hereafter, in poverty and in abundance, and leads one to Allah’s approval. Since the heart is a mirror in which Allah casts the evil eye, only Allah should be loved directly with that decent heart, and other things should be loved not directly and for themselves, but for Allah’s sake and for Allah’s sake.
