Why is it important what we eat?
Abu ad-Darda reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: “Allah has sent down both the malady and its remedy. For every disease He has created a cure. So seek medical treatment, but never with something the use of which Allah has prohibited.” (Reported by Abu Daw’ud )
” Allah has not placed a cure for your diseases in things that He has forbidden for you” (Buhari – İbn Mes’ud (r.a) )
Under this knowledge light, it is widely acceptable that all eating and drinking staffs which human being consumed are exactly connected with mental and spiritual life. So, the expression of “you are what you eat” is very suitable for that.
We want to make some criticize on Genetic Modified Products, which might be ever the biggest catastrophe of human being under “you are what you eat” perspective.
GMO problem has still been ongoing since enable of 13 GMO corn types import in the Biosafety committee meeting on the last week of 2011. Everything is about our foreign trade. According to our information, during Turkey and USA negotiation, it is requested arrangements of customs on fig and pomegranate. It is answered as”then soften the laws on GMO.” Unfortunately, the laws have softened for the sake of business.
According to our authority when GMO products use as animal feed, it doesn’t give any harmful effects on egg, milk and meat. However, it has stated in Catania University study report that GMO feed based GMO particles has encountered in various animal products.
