BARA’AT NIGHT, 15th DAY OF SHABAN MUBARAK…!

The sanctity of any time and place can only be achieved when Allah and His Messenger attribute value to that time and place. There are golden periods of time such as the month of Ramadan, the night of power, Friday and the hour of answering and the Three Months of Blessed Time. One of them is the Bara’at night (lailat al-Bara’at).

The holiness of the Bara’at night and that it is a golden time period are evident by their revival by giving a special value to this night with the signs of the Qur’an, the statements of our Prophet (sallallahu’alaihi wa sallam), the opinions of the predecessors/forerunners on this issue, and the general acceptance of Muslims from past to present.

There are four names of this night; The most famous name of the blessed night is “lailat al Bara’at” (Night of Bara’at: ليلة البراءة), but the names are “lailat al mubaraka”(Holy Night: لليلة المباركة), “lailat al rahma”(Night of Mercy: ليلة الرحمة) and “lailat al sakk”(Night of Acquittal: ليلة الصك). Bara’at night is one of the nights considered blessed by Muslims. The night that connects the fourteenth day of Sha’ban to the fifteenth day is the Bara’at night.

Our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) stated about the blessed Bara’at night in his Hadith al Sharif: “When it is the night of the middle of Shaban, spend its night in prayer and observe a fast on that day. For Allah descends at sunset on that night to the lowest heaven and says: ‘Is there no one who will ask Me for forgiveness, that I may forgive him? Is there no one who will ask Me for provision, that I may provide for him? Is there no one who is afflicted by trouble, that I may relieve him?’” (Ibn Majah, Iqamatu’s-Salah, 191)

According to what is reported from Ibn Abbas, the affairs of wisdom are made distinct as follows:
All of the events that will take place in the following year are recorded by different angels in the books. Livelihoods, times of deaths, richness, poverty, deaths, births are all recorded during that period. Even the number of hajis (pilgrims) of that year is ordained during that period. The destiny of everybody and everything is recorded.

According to Fahraddin ar-Razi, the arrangements of those books start on the Bara’at night and are completed on the Qadr night; each book is delivered to its owner.

Tonight, we should be grateful for all the blessings bestowed by Allahu ta’ala, also repent for our sins and mistakes, want to be saved from hellfire.

Our Prophet (pbuh) prayed his Lord as follows on that night:
O Allah! I take shelter in Your forgiveness from Your torture, in Your consent from Your wrath. I am too weak to praise you as necessary. You are exalted as You praise Yourself. (at-Targhib wa’t-Tarhib, 2:.119, 120)

The word berat; It means getting rid of debt, being cleared, getting rid of punishment or responsibility. The Bara’at night, manifested by Allah’s extra mercy, grace and forgiveness, opens the doors of forgiveness to His servants; It is a time when believers answer their prayers, forgive their sins, and reward their worship many times over than normal times. May Allah make it one of those who use it…

In one verse of the Quran, everyone who realizes the Bara’at night should realize the good news of Almighty Allah “Say, O Prophet, that Allah says, “O My servants who have exceeded the limits against their souls! Do not lose hope in Allah’s mercy, for Allah certainly forgives all sins. He is indeed the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Surah Az-Zumar, Ayat 53) in the Qur’an and return to their own essence, revive their hopes, and strengthen their feelings of forgiveness and forgiveness.
