ARE YOU GETTING READY FOR THE 17th RAMADAN WORLD HALAL DAY?

Our Ramadan month will start on Thursday, March 23, in our year 1444 Hijri and 2023 Gregorian, Insha’Allah. May our Lord make it good, peaceful and fruitful, and take away our pain.

We are in our 11th year in the celebrations of the 17th Ramadan World Halal Day, which we started in 2013 under the umbrella of the World Halal Council, with the aim of contributing to the halalness of our lives by holding on to the rope of Allah, thinking that it will remind us of our responsibility for the Halal morsel that has been forgotten for 100 years.

This year, we are getting ready to celebrate the World Halal Day in the world and in our country with more enthusiasm and more splendor. WHC members had celebrated World Halal Day with separate events in 16 countries in the past years. In our country, we celebrated this day with various activities by many non-governmental organizations such as Toçbirsen under the leadership of GIMDES, Dünya Helal Vakfı (DHV-World Halal Foundation) and Halal Dunya Markets branches.

Why is it the 17th of Ramadan? Because the first verse on halal, the 69th verse of Surat al-Anfal was revealed on the 17th day of Ramadan in 624 Hijri, in the Battle of Badr, the first battle between Islam and disbelief. Well, what does our Lord say in the verse?

“Now enjoy what you have taken, for it is Halal (lawful) and Tayyib (good, clean). And be mindful of Allah. Surely Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

The human body can be a palace made of gold and emeralds, or it can be a makeshift structure made of rubbish. The construction of this body building is directly related to what we eat and drink. A good mentality health and a mature human condition can only be found in a body that is fed with Halal and Tayyib foods.

People who are exposed to food terrorism then be (food) bait for all kinds of terrorism, as we see around us all the time.
In other words, if we want to build a healthy, mature, caring, patriotic, religious generation, we should start with whether what we eat and drink is Halal and Tayyib, haram or suspicious. If we want Tayyib, that is, nice people, we should pay attention to the fact that the food we consume is from Halal and Tayyib products that are earned through Halal and Tayyib ways and that Allah has not made haram.

So we have to place these two concepts in our world, in our head and heart. This should not be strange to anyone. In every issue, it should not be misunderstood and misinterpreted as a subject that evolves into politics over religion. This is related to fitra (original disposition), as it is in every issue of Islam. Beyond being a subject that religion commands only to Muslims, it is the recipe for life that the Creator offers to His creations for the salvation of all humanity.

There are two options in front of man; man will either be a prisoner of his own whims and desires in cooperation with the devil, or he will do what Allah orders, escape from what he forbids, and attain the blessings of Paradise promised by Allah, the Owner of the entire universe. The sane person will choose the latter.

“A time will come when a person will not care about how he has acquired things halal or haraam.” However, especially at this time, the whole world, all Muslims and all humanity needs Muslims’ prayers.

As GIMDES, I present below for your information the activities that we are planning to do this year insha’Allah.
